Updated: Aug 15, 2022

How much marine life has been discovered? Scientists estimate that 91 percent of ocean species have yet to be classified, and that more than eighty percent of our ocean is unmapped, unobserved, and unexplored

How many species are in the ocean 2022? These are but a small portion of the total: researchers estimate that the ocean may be home to 700,000 marine species, and likely not more than a million, according to a study published online in Current Biology today and coordinated by Ward Appeltans of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO.
